Who we are

The North Carolina Association of Occupational Health Nurses is an organization of approximately 300 nurses who practice occupational health nursing.

This group of professionals work together with the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) to promote and advance the field of occupational health nursing.

When you join AAOHN, you are also a member of NCAOHN. The state association is composed of seven local chapters across the state.

Our history

  • 1954 - 
    NCAOHN was organized in 1954 under the name North Carolina Association of Industrial Nurses and was a constituent of the American Association of Industrial Nurses (AAIN).
  • 1976 -
    Articles of Incorporation were signed and name changed to North Carolina Association of Occupational Health Nurses when AAIN was changed to AAOHN.
  • 1996 -
    Received the Constituency of the Year Award from AAOHN in San Antonio, Texas.
  • 2011 -
    There have been four AAOHN Presidents who were also NCAOHN members. Sharon Muckenfuss- 1989-1991; Bonnie Rodgers- 1995-1999; Susan Randolph- 2003-2007; Kay Campbell- 2009-2011;
